Lexcel

The Lexcel Quality Standard has proved to be one of the most popular initiatives of the Law Society and we are proud to have played a significant part in its development. Based on the Practice Management Standards - first formulated in conjunction with Web4Law director Matthew Moore in the early 1990s - Lexcel provides objective externally assessed evidence of sound practice management systems and processes.

The standard source materials for the Lexcel initiative are the Lexcel Practice Excellence Kit, comprising the Lexcel Assessment Guide and the Lexcel Office Procedures Manual. Most of the materials within the Assessment Guide were drafted by Matthew Moore and Rupert Kendrick, while Matthew Moore remains the editor and principal contributor to the Office Procedures Manual, as he has been for all four editions to appear since 1997. Matthew was, furthermore, the principal trainer for the Law Society in the Lexcel standard, with responsibility for training the assessors and consultants recognised by the Law Society, from 1999 to 2007.

Our intimate knowledge of the Lexcel standard places us amongst the most authoritative of consultants on the scheme. We have worked on successful programmes with firms of all profiles, from the largest to hold the standard to sole practitioners, often at a fraction of the project rates suggested by other less expert advisers. Matthew's client list includes most of the top 100 firms to have gained certification to the Standard.
